Last summer, Bryan Great School found funding to send every student, and even the incoming freshmen, home with five books to keep and understand.

The book bags were tailored to each student, but librarian Stacy Lickteig made assured that many of them included one of her favorite books, "Chains" by Laurie Halse Anderson.

I just now didn’t know what kind (of book) until I saw some slang dictionaries …  and I ratiocination, ‘We have lingo – and it’s interesting, too.’ That’s where the outlook came from,” she said. “I’m a word nerd. I have been a facsimile editor at magazines, I’m the sign grammar police … so it was surely two of my passions in one place – Goth and language.” “One of the things I wanted when the reserve came out was to have a copy in my hometown library, which I spent a lot of time in as a kid. We didn’t have the Internet, so if I wanted to learn about something, I would go to the library,” she said. “I took out all the vampire books and vomit up a lot of time in there.”
