Being Consistent Integral to Discipline
Consistency means repetition. If you have incontestable your child is not allowed to play video games in the morning, then that rule has to be upheld to be powerful. Your son will never learn this rule if sometimes there are "exceptions" to the rule. Similarly, if "no" really means no, then it has to always inferior no (this is a tough one, and is the reason I do not like using the word "no" if I can help it). Consistency suggests that your rules and expectations are the same today, tomorrow and into the foreseeable tomorrow.
